I've been tagged by my friend Kristi to complete the significant other meme! I don't blog about DH very much for a few reasons -- his desire for privacy being the most important, but also to avoid inadvertently involving him/us in the hotbed of small town politics that goes on here -- but this poll seems harmless and fun. Besides, he never reads my blog so it's not like he'd know even if I did spill all his juicy secrets. ;-)
So. Off we go!
His name: DH. I know I'm not totally anonymous here, lol, but I like to pretend.
How long have you been married? It'll be 7 years this July.
How long did you date? About 7 months from our first date to our wedding date. I swore I was never going to be one of those girls -- I was much too mysterious and aloof to fulfill that particular Mormon cliché! -- but hey, "when you know, you know!" ::insert eye roll here:: Oh well.
How old is he? 37 in March.
Who eats more? He does. But he also runs 5 or 6 days a week and is training for his third marathon, so it doesn't show on him. That doesn't stop his frequent interrogations, though: "Does this make me look fat? Do you think I'm getting fatter? I really think I'm getting fat." He's worse than a teenage girl.
Who said "I love you" first? He did.
Who is taller? He is 5'11 to my 5'4.
Who sings better? He has a lovely tenor; his dad taught music in the public schools for 35 years, so DH inherited the talent and also got the training.
Who is smarter? I think we're well matched. He's obviously better at science and math, but I'm no slouch in the humanities. And -- unless I get stuck on the sports questions -- I still have him beat at Trivial Pursuit. :-)
Whose temper is worse? Depends what you mean by worse. His temper is quicker, but then he's over it and can forgive and be cheerful. I stew and boil over and then simmer for a long while; it's really hard for me to move on from anger. Actually, I think I have to say that mine is worse.
Who does the laundry? I do. Not often enough, lol, but it eventually gets done by me.
Who does the dishes? He does, if he's home for the meal.
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? I'm on the right side when lying in bed. Standing facing the bed, I guess that's the left, though. Hmmm.
Who pays the bills? Somehow I got elected treasurer of the family.
Who mows the lawn? He does.
Who cooks dinner? I cook; he grills. Neither of us bakes.
Who drives when you are together? I usually make him do it, especially if we're in unfamiliar territory (I get very neurotic when I don't know where I am).
Who is more stubborn? We both are, but in different ways: He's overtly stubborn, while I'm stealthy (I'll agree just to get along, but then do things the way I had planned to all along).
Who is the first to admit when they are wrong? He is, for reasons outlined in the question about temper. He's always more concerned with doing right than with being right. Good man, that DH of mine.
Whose parents do you see the most? These days mine, because they live nearby-ish (a ~90 minute drive). When we lived in TX, we saw his mom about as often as we saw my parents -- a couple times a year, maybe. (His parents are both still alive and together, but we saw his dad only half as much because he hates to travel so we'd have to go to him.)
Who proposed? He did, and with his grandmother's ring. Awww!
Who has more friends? I'd say he does. It turns out we're both introverts (at different ends of the spectrum, but still) so neither of us requires more than a few close friends, but he has actual social skills and can be charming. Me...? Not so much, lol. I'm amazed I have as many as I do. ;-)
Who has more siblings? I do: I have two brothers and five sisters. He only has one sister, poor guy.
Who wears the pants in the family? He does, and he's welcome to them! He enjoys leadership; I don't. We make a good pair that way.
Okay, that's it. The sleeping baby who'd been on my lap as I typed this has woken up and begun to scream. It is 1:00 in the morning. I'd probably better stop now. No time to tag specific people, so anybody who wants to play -- you're it!

How fun! It's nice to know more about your DH, seeing as I only know him in a round-about sort of way. He's a busy person, that man of yours. :) Maybe I will tag myself? If you're not sick of hearing about BigScottishJerk.com, that is.
I loved learning about your DH. It was wonderful to finally meet him this summer. I am very happy for you to have such a wonderful companion. I might try answering your questions myself, but life is crazy right now so don't hold your breath. Besides, you know most of the answers because you lived through my meeting and marrying him.
Thanks for playing! It's fun to learn more about the mystery man in your life. I'm glad he's a gentleman and sleeps by the door (that is if he's ever home to sleep)
