Neither of them passed Level 2 on this first go round, but not because they were afraid and not because they didn't try. The swimming teachers tell me very few kids do pass that one right away; it goes beyond Level 1 basics like holding your breath to trickier things like floating. My girls have to learn to resist the urge to lift their heads and look around mid-float -- but once they've got that down, it'll be on to Level 3! Woo-hoo!
Swimming skills are important, but even more than that, I'm glad they've learned that the pride of accomplishment feels better than the icky-sticky attention of melodrama. :-)

Those photos are so cool. Sounds like your girls are older AND wiser. Nice work (you, I mean). (That was a very Yoda way to put that.)
I'm still in shock that you're moving until I realize that it doesn't affect my relationship with you at all. In any case, I hope the transition is smooth and I look forward to reading (and seeing) all about it.
Your photos are very cool! I loved the "drunk off the power of level 2" part. My kids just finished up swimming lessons and my "dos" not only didn't pass...but the teacher told my DH to sign him up for a lower level class next time. I am always at work during swimming lessons and never see them actually swim, so I put them in classes based on where I think their abilities lie....oops! I guess I am one of "those" parents now.
p.s. excited to hear you are headed east...I know we haven't seen each other in awhile, but we would be excited to host you if you are ever headed to the DC area.
i love the edit on these pictures! you must teach me, photoshop master!
