I think Mary ended up with better shots than I did (post them on your plog, sis!), but oh well. Here are a couple of outtakes for your enjoyment:
Slap That Thing on Velvet, Stat!

Water, Water Everywhere But Not a Drop to Drink

And now for my submission photo! I like it best with some seagulls photoshopped in (and the dust on my camera's sensor cloned out, ugh) but it's still nice and peaceful straight out of the camera:
Lost In Blue

I'd love to go back out to the GSL next time I'm in town. I think there are many more photographic opportunities to be had! Who's with me? (This time I'll even bring a tripod.)
Mary, your challenge for next week is the phrase, "One man's junk is another man's treasure." I know you'll rock the house with that one. :-)

[PS - Please send some prayers / positive thoughts in the general direction of my BIL, who was hit by a car yesterday while riding his bike to work. He will recover, but he's in a lot of pain right now and the driver still hasn't been found. I'm sure my poor sister Anna, his cute wife, would appreciate your prayers on her behalf as well.]

Oooh! I love it! It's very moody. I'm suggesting next time you go out to the spiral jetty ~ and I'd even come...if you ever called me! ;)
I thought they found the girl who hit poor Pete! That's what they were saying on the news...some student at East High? I feel so bad for your adorable sister...and I'm so glad he's not hurt worse!
Thanks, man! Where is the Spiral Jetty? (Other than at the GSL, duh.) I'm sorry I didn't call you! It was all very last minute (which is why I didn't have my tripod, though it would have helped as the light got dimmer) and I didn't even stay the whole weekend. But I do want to get back there, and I will call you the next time, I promise! Or we could be smart and arrange a date ahead of time! Even better. :-D
RE: Pete -- I heard the news that they'd found the car after I posted this. Though from what I saw on the news, the girl denies being the driver and she hadn't been arrested or anything. And then I got thinking, well yeah, how do they know for sure? They can determine if it's definitely the car or not, but how do they know who was driving it? :-(
In any case, I hope whoever did it -- whether it's the HS girl or a friend or family member or whatever -- gets what's coming to her. That is so completely inhuman to leave someone lying unconscious in the road like that, to just drive off. Unbelievable. I don't know what A&P will do, but if it were me I'd be suing somebody for hospital bills and lots and LOTS of pain & suffering / emotional distress. UGH. I don't even have the words for what I feel about that person.
But on the brighter side: They do have the car impounded, apparently they're working toward figuring out who the driver was, and -- very best of all -- Pete is doing so much better than expected. (THANK GOODNESS FOR HELMETS.)
It's okay, man! I was *mostly* teasing you and your phone-o-phobe ways. You are a busy girl, so it's all good. I DO miss you though! *sniff*
Okay, so the Spiral Jetty is actually on the far northern end of the GSL, clear up by the Golden Spike Monument. I had no idea! (I had to look it up: http://www.spiraljetty.org)
I've just always wanted to see it in person, and I hear it's really cool if the water levels aren't too high to see it. Christopher had this art teacher in college from (insert random European country here) who would call it the Spiral Jet-EEEEeeeee. I find that very amusing.
I know that's a bit of a drive up to Corinne/Brigham City, but they do the Golden Spike re-enactments in May complete with trains and steam and all, so it might be a good road tripping excuse for some sweet photos, eh? Thiokol is up there too. Not to mention the infamous Maddox Ranch house, which I'm completely sad doesn't have the car hop boxes anymore.
Re: Pete. I am SO angry at whoever the responsible person was...whether it was that girl or someone else driving the car. Although someone had to have seen it all, right? Because Pete doesn't remember. It's one thing when it's an accident and you do the right thing. Quite another when you get out, look at them, freak out and then get back in your car and drive off, leaving them to...well, any horrible combination of things that could happen to an unconcious person lying in the road with injuries. What is WRONG with people?!
Sis, I totally meant to comment on this last week! D'oh! I super love your submission photo (and the other 2 of course)! I love the texture that the water has, and then the visible line between the water + sky. It's awesome!
